Whenever I practice my splits I always make sure to warm my hamstrings up! I suggest starting lying down on your back and stretching your hamstrings before jumping right into things!
My favorite mini flow into the splits includes dynamic movement from kneeling crescent to half splits. You can do this as many times as you need to. I follow my nose to nose breath as I flow.
You can always use props during your split practice! It doesn’t matter how far down you can make it in your splits. Maybe you don’t even try and stick to your half splits! I like to think of keeping my hips even with one another. I also find that flexing my front foot makes the pose more active!
